The aim of the project is to develop techniques to model liquid bridging during particle processes such as granulation or impregnation in laboratory scale equipment.
In processes such as impregnation or granulation, liquid is added to the powder bed. Information extrapolated from the DEM simulations such as flow patterns of solid within an operation unit, flow rate under a spraying area, flow between compartments units (shear rates and collision frequencies) will be compared to physical experiments under similar conditions in order to validate the model.
The effects of operating conditions on the final product properties will be determined. Physical experiments under similar conditions will be carried out to validate the model.
